STEPHEN WHITMIRE

Stephen J. Whitmire, 55, of Hunlock Creek, died on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at home with family by his side.

Born in Nanticoke, he was the son of Melvin Whitmire of Nanticoke and the late Arline Hall Whitmire. Stephen was a graduate of Nanticoke High School and was employed as a Therapeutic Aide for White Haven Center prior to their closing and previously for Kemlawn. Stephen enjoyed riding motorcycles, and going on long rides. His favorite saying was “Sometimes the ride is better than the destination.” He loved going to fairs and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his baby sister Mary.

He is survived, in addition to his father, by his loving wife Jill Petruce Whitmire; brother Robert of Hunlock Creek; mother & father in law Dave & Maryland Stutzman; Brother in law David Stutzman & his wife Roxanne; sister in law Amy & her husband Mike Burns; and nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Mackenzie, Gavin, Emma & Jaxon.

His wishes were to have no public services.
