RICHARD ZIKA Obituary

Richard V. Zika, 80, of Kingston, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side.

Born in West Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Richard and Erma Wright Zika.  He was a 1962 graduate of Northwest High School and graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business School.  He pursued a career as an administrator in the manufacturing industry and also followed his passion for the outdoors by serving as a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer for the State of Pennsylvania for 24 years. Richard was a member of St. Ignatius Church in Kingston and a Mason at the Irem Temple. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, as well as hunting and fishing with his beloved sons.  Richard was one of the founding fathers of Northwest Little League and was very active for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Bernice Wisneski Zika, children Richard E. (Theodora) Zika of Valencia, PA, Cindy L. (Michael) Adams of Tunkhannock, PA, Mark Zika of Palmyra, PA, Matthew (Nancy) Zika, of Marquette, MI; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Sarah), Drew, Miranda (Dan), Alexi (Timothy), Riley, Alecia (Chad), Avery, Nathan, Addison, Elizabeth, William; 2 great grandchildren; Wyatt and Kora, several nieces and nephews and his loving dog and companion, Peanuts.

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center for their compassionate treatment and support over the last 5 years, along with the phenomenal staff at the Compassus Hospice Network for their kindness and care.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 14, 2024, with visitation preceding from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Piatt Funeral and Cremation, 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612
