Marie Jane Cole

Marie J. Cole, 78, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026.

Born on November 12, 1947, in Callicoon, New York, she was the daughter of the late Glennie and Hazel L. (Eldred) Schwab.

Marie was a graduate of Damascus High School. She dedicated many years of service as a school bus driver for the East Stroudsburg Area School District, where she was known for her kindness and care for the students she transported.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially playing bingo and her fondness for raccoons, which always brought a smile to her face. Marie was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in East Stroudsburg.

Marie will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Elwood Cole and his wife, Romaine, of Shickshinny, and Derrick Cole and his wife, Christy, of East Stroudsburg; granddaughters, Mackenna, Samantha, Kayla and Jamie; her siblings, Nancy Marold, Elvin Schwab, and Fred Schwab; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood Cole Sr., and her brother, Glennie Schwab.

Marie will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to her family, and the many lives she touched throughout the years. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
