LEO ALFRED SIMS SR.

Leo Sims Sr., 59, of Shickshinny, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2025, and went to be with the Lord.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Cathy Valyo Sims; his three children: Cathy Gunther and husband Dave, Leo Sims and wife Kaitlyn, and Justin Sims and wife Sarah; as well as seven grandchildren: Noah, Addison, Jude, Kaleb, Madison, Rhiannon, and Kaylee. He will also be dearly missed by his four-legged companions: Mojo, Wyatt, Scipio, and Gizmo.

Leo was employed at the VA Hospital for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, collecting trains and cars, cooking, and spending time with his family. He had a passion for big Dodge trucks and loved working on vehicles. He was a graduate of Valley West High School.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Leo is also survived by his siblings: Lisa Valyo, Richard Sims, Rodney Sims, Tina Fielding, and Rose Gillis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Christine (Harvey) Sims, and his sister, Clarissa Sims.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Piatt Funeral & Cremation Services, 6 Sunset Lake Rd., Hunlock Creek. Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
