James Davenport, 76, of Huntington Mills, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, Friday evening, January 12, 2024 at home.
Born in Huntington Mills, he was the son of the late Cletus and Audrey Beaver Davenport and was a graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1966. Jim served his country proudly in the Army during Vietnam and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star; Purple Heart; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation with "V" device and the Army Commendation Medal. He owned and operated DC Stone, prior to retirement. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, building campfires, riding his motorcycle and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Quinn Davenport in 1994; brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Susann L. Brittain Davenport; children Justin Davenport of Huntington Mills, Maelee (Jason) Hilley of Huntington Township, Travis (Kady) Davenport of Huntington Township, Regina (Rob) Chyko of Bloomsburg; many grandchildren, one great grandchild; brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:00 am from the Piatt Funeral and Cremation, 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek. Interment will follow in Cambra Cemetery, Bonnieville Road, Cambra.
Viewing will be conducted on Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home and Wednesday morning, from 9:30 am until time of service.
