GARY H. DAVENPORT

Gary H. Davenport, 80, of Shickshinny, died on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville,

Born in Hunlock Creek, he was the son of the late Harold and G. Evelyn Baer Davenport and was a graduate of Northwest Area High School, Class of 1962.  Gary continued his education graduating from Kings College and earning his Master degree in Business from Wilkes University.  He was employed as a manager at Procter and Gamble, Tunkhannock, prior to retirement and was a faithful blood donor.  He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles Fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his family.

Gary was a member of Fairmount Springs Church, a trustee for Patterson Grove Campground and was a Mason at Sylvania Lodge #354.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Madison and brother Duane Davenport.

Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Zimmerman Davenport; children, Eric (Michelle) Davenport of New Ringgold, Gina (Marlin Jr.) Sitler of Bloomsburg, Matthew Davenport of Shickshinny, Seth (Stephanie) Davenport of Shickshinny; seven grandchildren, KateLynn, Hannah, Elizabeth, Allanah, Sarah, Leif, McKenna;. sister Bonnie Williams of Shickshinny; brother Philip Davenport of Shickshinny; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:00 pm from the Piatt Funeral and Cremation, 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with Pastor Mike Bodek and Roger Noss officiating.  Interment will follow in Sorber Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow at Oakdale Independent Community Church, 485 Oakdale Drive Hunlock Creek. 

Friends are invited to join the family from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025 and Saturday, from 12:00 until service time.
