Alice E. Deyo, of Nanticoke, passed away on April 28, 2026.
Born in Scranton on August 21, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Theresa McCollum Deyo. Alice was a graduate of Ridley-Lowell Business School, where she earned her associate degree. She went on to work in many positions from case worker for Broome County to office management at local mortgage and construction companies. She finally retired as administrator for Harte-Hanks Transportation Services, where she dedicated many years of service. Above all else, Alice’s family was the center of her world. Her home was always filled with laughter, humor, and warmth. Known for her quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, she brought joy to those around her and created countless cherished memories with her loved ones. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and especially making candy for her family, traditions that will be fondly remembered and carried on.
She is survived by her loving children: Sheila Ziemba of Nanticoke; Wayne Hunter Jr. and his wife, Penney, of Nanticoke; Donnie Hunter and his companion, Erica Shoemaker, of Plymouth; Eric Hunter and his companion, Doreen Becker, of Nanticoke; April Budd and her husband, Joseph, of Fairfield; and Douglas Hunter and his wife, Christina, of Nanticoke. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her sisters, Doris Osteen and Carol Hitchcock, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, John “Bud” Deyo; grandsons, Anthony Hunter and Wayne Hunter III; son-in-law, Larry Ziemba; and her siblings, Charlie Deyo, John H. Deyo, and Betty Wood.
A private celebration of Alice’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Piatt Funeral & Cremation, Hunlock Creek.
Alice will be remembered for her love of family, her laughter, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
